Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the global fight fans had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
