The Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden championship series after the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.

"It's incredible for this squad, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."

Springer has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not anyone else on planet Earth that I want up in that spot besides Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we ended up on the losing end of the series," he remarked.

The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
