Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
