FC Barcelona Ready for First Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday

The club confirmed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome the Bilbao team in domestic competition 30 months since relocating to allow renovations to start.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside under the licence granted. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium on 7 November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
