The loved ones of teens missing after a deadly inferno at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are facing an excruciating wait for answers and pleading for information about their children publicly.

The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Verified images depict the ceiling igniting as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take an extended period to formally name the those who perished of the disaster, which claimed the lives of 40 people and wounded another scores more. A spokesperson stated on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with the process still underway to locate the other six.
