American Social Media Personality Penalized After Mass E-Bike Ride on Sydney Harbour Bridge
NSW authorities have levied a penalty against an American social media personality and handed out two driving violation citations for alleged negligent driving after a large group of electric bicycle users gathered on the famous Sydney landmark during the busy commute on a weekday.
The Incident: An Illegal Gathering
A group of around 40 people operating e-bikes and motorcycles travelled along the primary roadway of the bridge, where cycling is prohibited. The riders subsequently reversed direction and traveled through the city’s CBD and Haymarket.
"There was a risk of people to be injured and killed," stated NSW police assistant commissioner the officer on Wednesday.
Law enforcement indicated they did not immediately pursue the riders out of safety concerns but rather found the assembly at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair near the Botanic Gardens, where they dispersed.
Fines Imposed for Content Creator
Later in the week, authorities announced they had served the American online personality who goes by the influencer, twenty-six, with two violation tickets for negligent driving (not involving death or prior injury), with a penalty of over five hundred dollars and three demerit points each, connected to the bridge incident. Officials noted that the investigation is ongoing.
The influencer is said to have over 3.4 million followers on YouTube and over 1.2m on Instagram.
Creator's Response
The content creator gave comments to a local publication recently following the event gained traction on digital platforms, saying he regretted giving "bike life" a negative image.
"I accept the blame. That was among the safest ride-outs I’ve ever seen," he told the publication. "I am a visitor here, and I intend to come here respecting the rules and standards of Sydney. When I decided to do a public meeting it did not involve a group ride, it was just to say hi under the bridge."
"I’m unfamiliar with the city, I am to blame we found ourselves on the bridge and I had two choices: whether the group completes the entirety of the bridge and comes back, an illegal act. Or we turn around, basically, before entering the bridge. And I made the decision at the time to turn around."
National Debate on E-Bike Regulation
The increase of electric bicycles on roads nationwide has sparked increasing demands for regulation. A senior government official, the minister, recently said that illegal ebikes were a "total menace on the road."
"Kids have done reckless acts on bikes ever since the early bicycle [but] the injuries that are coming into our ERs are absolutely devastating," he stated. "We’ve got to make sure we stop these things coming into the country [and] police are granted the powers to crack down, to take them away, to crush them, to dispose of them."
NSW reported 226 injuries associated with ebikes in the previous year. However, in the initial half of 2025, that number surged to two hundred thirty-three injuries plus four deaths.
